How to Go to Heaven When You Die

faith

The number one question that weighs on a person’s mind in this life is where they’re going to go when they die.  Settle it now before it’s eternally too late.  Are you ready to face that day?

Many people think that God has a scale to weigh our good deeds against our bad.  Thankfully, that is not true.  If it were true we’d all go to hell!  The Bible tells us in Isaiah 64:6 that “…ALL our righteousnesses are as filthy rags”.

The Bible makes it clear, there is only one way to heaven.  Let’s see what the Bible says…

We are All Sinners

The Bible tells us we are all sinners.  Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” and in Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”

If you claim to be righteous, you are only deceiving yourself.  The Bible says in 1 John 1:8, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”  And you call God a liar, 1 John 1:10 tells us, “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

Some people may even think they’ve only sinned ‘a little’.  They may say, well I’ve never killed anyone.  But God’s word clears this up in James 2:10, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

You may ask why God made the 10 commandments (the law) if no one can keep them.  They are to show us our sinful nature.  They prove to us we can’t keep them and are guilty before God.  Romans 3:19-20, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”

Can Your Sins Be Too Big?

Many people think they need to clean up or stop sinning before they can go to church or be saved but God knows our excuses and answers them ahead of time!

In Romans 5:8 we learn, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  and in Romans 5:6 “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”

The Price of Sin

Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

That means the price you owe for your sin is death but Jesus Christ paid our debt.  He paid the penalty for our sins.

The Good News (the Gospel)

The good news is that God has taken care of this for you.  John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Jesus paid it all!  Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

When Paul and Silas were in prison, the keeper asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

In 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Paul says, “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

Saved by Faith

There are not several or many ways that lead to salvation, there is only one way.  John 14:6 says, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”.  Jesus is not A way, he is THE way.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”  We see here that there is no work that we can do to justify ourselves.  We can’t rely on sprinkling, baptism, church membership, missionary work, tithing, preaching, teaching, witnessing or any other good work to get to heaven.

Romans 5:1-2, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

What Must YOU Do to Be Saved?

If you realize you’re a sinner on your way to hell you can change that right now.  According to the scriptures, simply pray (talk) to God, admit you’re a sinner, and tell him you believe by faith that Jesus Christ died for your sins.  Ask him to save you and he will.  Make note of the day, time, and where you are.  This is your spiritual birthday!

Don’t Put It Off

Hebrews 9:27 says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”.  Since we have no promise of tomorrow, Proverbs 27:1 “Boast not thyself of to morrow;” now is the time to decide.   A non-decision is a decision still.  We see in John 3:18, “He that believeth on him in not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
